I Will Rise

Have you ever been so far down in a valley that you can't even see the top of the next mountain? Have you ever wondered, "Why me? This is too hard. I just can't go on." Have you ever thought that no one has walked in your shoes?

Yeah, me too.

We've all been there.

But what happened?

Eventually, you not only saw the next mountain, you were able to scale it & enjoy the view. Eventually, you were able to look back & think "Wow, that wasn't as bad as I thought." Eventually, someone showed up, not only on that same path, but helped encourage you to keep walking & told you about how they have traveled that road before.

I enjoy hearing my husband preach. I don't respond to every single message that he brings, but I do try to support him as best I can. There have been a few messages that have stood out along the way. Tonight's message will be one of those that stick with me. It wasn't a shout it out, hallelujah message. It wasn't a squeeze your heart until all the excess comes out in your tears message. It was more oh an "A Ha" teaching message.

Genesis 37 - 50 tells the story of Joseph, his coat of many colors, how he was his father's favorite son, his brothers' jealousy, his journey from slave to keeper of the house to prisoner to Pharaoh's right hand man. It follows a cycle of falling into the pit, rising up to a pinnacle, falling deeper, only to rise to a greater height.

There are so many examples in not only the Bible, but virtually every book, movie, story ever created about man's struggle, success, defeat, & victory. Classics such as Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, The Pilgrim's Progress. New hits including The Grinch that Stole Christmas, Batman, & Happy Feet Too. Bible stories of Jonah, Moses, Peter, Paul, & (my personal favorite) Rahab.

How many times have you stumbled & fell, not thinking you could carry on? Just remember that you too can RISE!!

Oh, yeah, believe me, there have been sooooooo many of those times when I thought I couldn't get back up. And I've been blessed by many helping hands and willing hearts who kept me going when I didn't think I could!

Sometimes its easy to forget what we can achieve. as each year passes I think ' oh there's another year gone by and what have I achieved?'. But when I stop and think and write down what I did manage month to month I realise quite how many obstacles I did overcome and how many mountains I got over. You just have to remember to keep going, one step at a time.
