If this is going to happen to her, then to be fair, it should happen to everyone! We know that's impossible, so it's time to go back to "sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me", and allow people to make their own decisions as to what they will allow in their life. Personally I don't associate with people who put other people down, but I also understand we all make mistakes, and that's what repentance is for! I have no idea of most of what she said but I think she happened to be the most likely candidate for ostracization given her place in the public eye.

I really don't like how blacks in the US are quick to cry racism at every single thing. I really don;t get it. maybe its because I grew up in a different sort of environment.

But there is a double standard everywhere these days.Soulz Rebelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17657461302745155858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723860740733931188.post-20576781885385276002013-07-03T11:06:52.018-04:002013-07-03T11:06:52.018-04:00thank you for speaking up about Paula Deen you are...thank you for speaking up about Paula Deen you are so right even the black people call themselves that word all the time in rap songs and they say it is okay. I think that what I am hearing that they are saying that they want to bring down family values. Look at the gay people getting married no more just a man and woman familys. I'm telling you they don't want our kids to act morally. They want us and our kids to disrespect all of humanity. Look at the commercials of today we are disrespecting mothers and fathers all the time making them look dumb.tammynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723860740733931188.post-52293399229769162722013-07-03T10:48:15.691-04:002013-07-03T10:48:15.691-04:00Great post. I don't think I quite understand ...Great post. I don't think I quite understand the whole thing, I haven't been paying that much attention, other than what I see on my FB feed. But from what I *do* get, this happened 20+ years ago? Unacceptable, yes, absolutely. Especially considering 20 years ago, it was 1993, not 1963. You can't even blame "southern culture" for that one. BUT... it's not like it doesn't happen everywhere, every day. Look at the Trevon Martin case (which my husband has been following quite well). Apparently, the girlfriend who testified yesterday didn't see a problem with him using the word cr*cker. That's a slur, too. One isn't worse, or better, than the other. It's just not. You're absolutely wright, what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and if we're not going to actually respond to everyone who behaves in this manner, than we absolutely can't pick and choose who we are going to demonize. It's unfair. I've never defended what Deen said, but have argued the wrongness of throwing her to the wolves when we turn a blind eye to the sins of others.

Love your blog...it seems like a happy place.
